According to some reports, the next generation of the famous Dodge Durango is due to arrive for the 2018 model year. This full-size SUV is expected to retain its current proportions, while adopting a more refined design and improved fuel efficiency. We expect the 2018 Dodge Durango to arrive as a much more competitive model compared to its predecessor. After receiving a total overhaul, the brand new generation of the 7-passenger SUV is expected to take on other family-haulers such as the redesigned Mazda CX-9, Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot.

The 2018 Dodge Durango will feature an all-new sheet metal but its size and profile shouldn’t stray too far from the current version. Expect to see a more sophisticated appearance and improved aerodynamics. Unfortunately, the detailed engine specifications for the 2018 Dodge Durango have yet to be released. However, we expect it to be offered with more efficient powertrains compared to those found in the outgoing version. It is currently available with the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that makes 290 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. As for the optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8, it churns out 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of twist. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as an option. Now, the 2018 model could also receive the company’s more efficient nine-speed automatic transmission.
