2018 Dodge Ram 2500 Changes Release

Several recent reports reveal that the Dodge Ram Heavy-Duty trucks are due to receive substantial enhancements for the 2018 model year. That doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The all-new Ford F-Series Super Duty and the upgraded Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra HD have already hit the market. Based on several photos of a spied test mule, we can safely say that the 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 will bring notable visual and mechanical improvements. According to reliable sources, the Ram’s 6.7-liter Cummins I-6 diesel should bring higher power and torque ratings in all of its variants. The scope of visual changes is still debated. We expect the Dodge Ram HD lineup to offer more than just mild cosmetic enhancements.

2018 Dodge Ram 2500 Design and Features

The test prototypes covered in vinyl camouflage give us a hint at what the upcoming 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 will look like once it goes into production. Although the recognizable cross-hair grille will remain this truck’s trademark feature, it is expected to come smaller and lower compared to the current one. The headlights are likely to get thinner, with the front bumper taking a slightly revised shape. Together with the redesigned hood, the rest of the exterior updates are meant to make the revamped HD lineup more aerodynamic than ever before. At the back, expect to see less obvious changes, with slightly revised taillights as the most notable one. Changes will happen on the inside as well. There will be a few new styling cues and materials, while the Dodge Ram’s infotainment is likely to adopt some enhancements.

2018 Dodge Ram 2500  Engine Lineup

As previously mentioned, the revised 6.7-liter Cummins V6 diesel will offer more power and torque for the 2018 model year. That basically means you should expect the 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 to exceed the 380 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque that are currently at its disposal. As for the gasoline lineup, it is not likely to receive any major improvements. The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 will be making 383 hp and 410 lb-ft, whereas the 6.4-liter V8 should be churning out 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of twist.

The most recent reports suggest that the 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 could hit the North American showrooms in late 2017 or early 2018.
